She pushed the covers off her body, climbed out of the bed, reached for her robe and tip-toed out of the bedroom. Walking into the kitchen with the intention of making hot tea, she instead picked up the phone. She looked at it and then down the hall toward the bedroom, all the while hoping he was still sleeping.
She made her way toward the back of the house, opened the French doors, walked out onto her patio and quietly shut the door behind her. Sitting in a lounge chair, she breathed in the warm summer air and calm her nerves. Before she knew what she was fully doing, she dialed Ethan’s phone number – determined to tell him the truth.
It would change everything for all of them – including the baby inside her.
